How does one change their career path after years of success in one profession? Well I have only done it once but I've found you have to go with what you're passionate about.
To this end, web and software development were the only real options for me. I have been drawn to technology and its applications for most of my life, and my best years in sales were when I worked on large and complex SaaS deployments, discussing implications and integrations with network teams and sales engineers. I have always wanted to "look under the hood" with software, and now I'm helping to actually build it out.
I love the continual learning inherent to development, as there is ALWAYS something new to incorporate. I look forward to going everywhere this adventure takes me.
